GPhC commissions research on impact of Covid on trainees

The GPhC has commissioned Keele University researchers to look into the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had on provisionally registered pharmacists and pre-registration trainees.

In an announcement one week after provisionally registered pharmacists in Great Britain sat the first online registration exam, the regulator said it wanted to understand how clinical training has been affected over the last 12 months and how well equipped this cohort feels to work as fully registered pharmacists.

“The findings will produce important insight and feed into the GPhC’s work on educational reform to the initial education and training of pharmacists,” said the regulator.

The GPhC said Keele University won the research contract through a competitive tender process.

Target groups will be contacted by email asking them to take part in the research through a short interview.
